#NFLMeanGreen: Preseason In Full Swing
Two Of Three Former Mean Green Players Begin NFL Preseason Action This Week
DENTON – With the National Football League’s preseason underway following last Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game, it is time to revisit those in the league that once called Denton home in 2017’s first installment of #NFLMeanGreen.
After the unfortunate medical retirement of 2016 Associated Press All-Pro selection Zach Orr, there are now three players in the NFL that played for the Mean Green. New Orleans Saints linebacker Craig Robertson, Oakland (soon-to-be Las Vegas) Raiders fullback Jamize Olawale and Los Angeles Rams running back Lance Dunbar are carrying the battle flag at the highest level.
Looking ahead to the conclusion of the first week of preseason, two of the three former North Texas players are expected to see action, in Robertson and Olawale. Dunbar is out with a knee injury and is currently on the Rams’ physically unable to perform list.
Robertson’s Saints will be in Cleveland, where the linebacker spent the first four years and 58 games of his career. Though it is preseason, Robertson will face his former team for the first time at the Dawg Pound, Thursday night at 7 p.m. CT.
Olawale’s Raiders travel to the desert to take on the Arizona Cardinals Saturday night at 9 p.m. to open their preseason. Arizona enters the fray at 0-1 after they fell 20-18 to the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.
Though Dunbar is out of action for the time being, his Rams host his former team, the 1-0 Cowboys, at the Coliseum in Los Angeles Saturday at 8 p.m. on NFL Network.
Be sure to follow the former Mean Green players in the NFL throughout the remainder of the preseason, and on into the regular season here on MeanGreenSports.com each Tuesday.
